President Obama to appoint JSU President Ronald Mason to HBCU board of advisors
President Barack Obama recently announced his intent to appoint Jackson State University President Ronald Mason, Jr. to the 11-member President's Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Dr. Mason has served as President of Jackson State University since 2000 and is a member of the Mississippi Technology Alliance Board of Directors.
Weir testifies on Building Opportunity through Broadband
MTA Vice President of Community Services Bubba Weir was invited to address a hearing on how broadband technology can help build opportunity in Mississippi. The hearing was held January 29 at the Mississippi e-Center at Jackson State University.
The event is co-sponsored by Jackson State University, the Center for Social Inclusion, the Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP, Full Spectrum South, the Center for Technology, Innovation & Community Engagement at the Columbia University School of Engineering and Tougaloo College. The hearing panelists will be Congressman Bennie Thompson; Derrick Johnson, state president of the Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP; and Maya Wiley, executive director of the Center for Social Inclusion.
