Highlights from the MTA 2009 Annual Report:
MTA carefully approaches metrics for each of its programs on both a short-term and a long-term basis. Short term metrics are assessed each year and performance to these metrics is measured and presented to the MTA Board of Directors each quarter. A few of MTA’s notable accomplishments in fiscal year 2009 include:
- MTA worked with 108 new entrepreneurial clients and 309 manufacturing clients.
- Since 2002, MTA clients have received approximately $118 million in private equity investment.
- MTA’s clients have added more than 7,000 new jobs with a payroll over $250 million as a direct result of MTA’s work. These employees pay more than $11.5 million in annual state income taxes – more than 9 times MTA’s state funding.
- The Mississippi Angel Network reached nearly 100 members.
- As of the close of the fiscal year, 20 companies had presented to the Mississippi Angel Network, 12 received investment, 1 received a term sheet but declined investment, 1 is engaged in due diligence with investors.
- Pointe Innovation celebrated its 7th year of publication.
- The 2nd Annual Mississippi Innovator’s Hall of Fame recognized the achievements of Mississippi technology leaders.
