The Mississippi Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Report has been compiled in order to give concerned parties information regarding the status of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the state of Mississippi. With concerns rising over energy supply and security, attention has turned to renewable energy, in order to reduce reliance on foreign energy supplies, and energy efficiency, in order to most effectively utilize the resources already at our disposal. By taking advantage of its natural resources, Mississippi stands to be a leader in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

This report gives a snapshot of several aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency, including technologies present, investment made, jobs created, and ongoing research by the state’s institutes of higher learning. From explanations of terminology and technology to discussions of energy policy, the aim of this report is to provide a source of pertinent information for any renewable energy/energy efficiency stakeholder in Mississippi, whether that person is a policy-maker, economic developer, entrepreneur, or simply interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

An integral portion of the report is the renewable energy/energy efficiency project map, an ongoing project for Strategic Biomass Solutions.  This interactive map, found here, is an effort to document the renewable energy and energy efficiency projects happening in the state of Mississippi.  Please visit the map to learn more about the different projects.

The staff of Strategic Biomass Solutions has aimed to make this report and the interactive map as comprehensive as possible. We hope to provide the best resource possible for interested parties, and welcome additional information regarding renewable energy and energy efficiency projects and technologies in the state. If you have suggestions or questions concerning the report or the interactive map, please contact Joseph Linton at jlinton@mta.ms or 601-960-3623.
